Welcome to SPARK NS News + Insights!
Stories, practical guidance, and expert perspectives to help neuroscience researchers navigate the path from lab to patient.

Academic researchers with groundbreaking biomedical discoveries face a similar challenge: translating their science into approved therapies. The long journey from lab to patient requires knowledge and skills that aren’t typically taught in academia. News + Insights is designed to help bridge that gap. Here, scientists and anyone interested in drug development can find high-quality, engaging, multimedia content from experts that illuminates this complicated, expensive, and risky endeavor. Our aim is to bring clarity and perspective, offer concrete advice, and encourage academic researchers to think differently about their roles in drug development.
News + Insights is also a place where we profile the researchers currently in our translational research program and the people behind SPARK NS: our staff, industry expert advisors, and partners. In addition, we keep followers up to date on developments and opportunities at SPARK NS. Examples include the timing of the release of our annual Call for Proposals for our Translational Research Program; when and where we hold short courses on topics such as drug development, translational research, and academic entrepreneurship that are open to researchers anywhere; and opportunities to work or partner with SPARK NS.
The SPARK NS mission is to advance promising discoveries in neuroscience from the lab to clinic. We currently focus on Parkinson’s disease and autism. We achieve our mission by providing academic researchers with funding and the support they need to be successful.
We hope you find the content on News + Insights relevant and valuable for your role in the drug development process. If you have comments or suggestions for how we can improve this resource, please contact News + Insights Editor Ariella Bersan at media@sparkns.org.
